As a public participant in Californias Climate Change Initiative process, I have come to the following observation.

The state of California wants to have meaningfull reductions to Global Warming impacts, as long as we can keep selling new cars. In fact it is key that we all buy new cars.

The State of California Air Resources Board is in the process of drafting the State Implementation Plan (SIP) to improve Air Quality in California.

By my best estimate, the majority of the plan is that Californians will all buy newer cars and businesses will buy newer trucks.

I live in Los Angeles breathing the air in the South Coast Air Basin. I also see the older cars and trucks on our streets. Is it a realistic plan to expect everyone to buy new vehicles?

Our local officials will bend over backwards to help auto dealerships sell cars.

Politicians love the smell of new car sales tax revenue. New vehicle sales account for 20% of sales taxes.

Do you see any conflict of interest there? Considering all the problems facing us from overuse of vehicles?

The following story has a few examples of our local governments doing their part to get vehicle sales up.

The following is a plea to our State of California to take action to end the illegal ongoing conflict of interest that puts 20% - 30% more vehicle exhaust into the atmosphere.

The State of California grants the Regional Transportaion Authorities oversight of Carpool matching services. The actuall pairing of drivers and riders. That program is underfunded and non-existent in some transit authorities.

California is suing the automakers for their contribution to global warming.

So, I have to ask, will the State of California sue me for driving a car?

Should I sue the State for damages from the ongoing illegal conflict of interest?
